Obama has been elected, and I am proud of our country for overcoming racial barriers. On the other hand, I am very alarmed. Do not get me wrong, I agree with many of Obama’s positions as most of my family knows. I am considered liberal, especially on economic issues. In short, I vote republican because of social issues like abortion and same-sex marriage.

What concerns me is the massive parties in the streets in response to president-elect Obama. How could so many people celebrate so excessively the election of an individual that subscribes to ideas that are so degrading to family and faith? How long will the God of our country sustain us like this? No doubt that our Nation has dark days ahead and that our power internationally is on a steep decline. Let us be faithful and serve and be involved. Only a shift in our ability as a nation to keep God’s commandments will change the direction our country is headed. Obama is correct; we need change. But let us attack the cause of our Nation’s illness, not the symptoms. We need to return to a reliance on God. Only this will heal our great Country.
